One Customer’s Experience
Recently, Enertech, an Enporion Order Manager user, received a request from another of its customers that wanted to transmit Purchase Orders electronically. The new buyer depends highly on its EDI system, and requested Enertech to implement an EDI solution in order to receive the electronic orders.
Enertech, a Curtis-Wright company, supplies valves, pumps, seals and other critical products for the North American nuclear industry. Enertech is a proponent of e-commerce and recognizes the potential for process efficiencies by transacting electronically. However, the issue facing Enertech, and most suppliers in today’s market, is that the benefits of e-commerce are lost when a supplier is required to establish several individual connections in order to meet each customer’s specific requirements.
To meet this new requirement, Enertech would have had to purchase and implement EDI software, establish connection to the buyer’s EDI value-added network (VAN), and begin paying transaction fees to get the orders. On the other hand, Enertech was already familiar with using Enporion’s service to easily receive electronic purchase orders from another buying company.
Rather than investing in older technology such as EDI software and incurring additional EDI VAN transaction fees, Enertech recommended utilizing Enporion, and gained their customer’s concurrence. Enporion’s proven solution was more cost effective and easy to implement, and enabled Enertech to standardize their connection methodology with their customers on a single platform. Order Manager enables Enertech to transmit electronic transactions with multiple customers in multiple formats through a single connection in a matter of days.
