With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, production at chocolate and sugar confectionary The Hershey Company should be overflowing! According to HolidayInsights.com over $1 billion in chocolate is purchased, and Wikipedia reports 1.1 billion boxed chocolates will be sold throughout the U.S. on the holiday.
It’s good news then that the Hershey supply chain process is in good hands. Terence L. O'Day joined Hershey as Senior Vice President, Global Operations, as reported by the company recently. O’Day will report to David J. West, President and Chief Executive Officer.
"He will lead our continuing efforts to improve the competitiveness of our operations and supply chain. Terry's leadership experience in a wide range of international manufacturing environments will enable Hershey to develop a flexible, cost-effective supply chain to meet the needs of our global consumers," said West.
How is the supply chain at Hershey right now? One indicator might be the EDI instructions located online for vendors to transact electronically. It remains to be seen what O’Day’s strategy will be to develop the improved "flexible" and “cost-effective supply chain.”
"Hershey is known around the world for high-quality products," O'Day said. "I look forward to working with the operations group and the Hershey Executive Team as we continue to build an efficient global supply chain that allows Hershey to successfully implement its strategic plan."
