Enporion again sponsored and participated in Platts' Supply Chain Management for Utilities conference. The conference this year was held in Tampa, Fl, across the street from Enporion's headquarters office and afforded numerous opportunities for Enporion and Supply Chain executives from around North America to exchange ideas and opportunities for new initiatives in their companies.

This is the 5th consecutive year that Enporion has participated and sponsored this conference. It is the only such conference specifically targeted at North American gas and electric utility supply chain organizations.

Over 120 participants discussed a number of emerging topics for supply chain organizations:

  • The growing importance of the CPO and the need to deliver increased procurement savings and efficiencies to the corporation
  • Challenges to come in a tightening labor supply market
  • Significant investments planned both in T&D and in Generation, particularly nuclear plants, and the role of SC in this process
  • Continuing focus on compliance and use of supply chain technology to address this
  • The efficiency of driving supplier adoption and electronic transactions with suppliers

In a wrap-up panel and presentation on the last day of the conference, George M. Gordon, Enporion Chairman and CEO, led an enthusiastic discussion of these topics, noting how Enporion, as the only Supply Chain technology and services company dedicated to the utility industry, is helping its customers with many of these emerging issues.
